Path Through the Woods

This is a section of a path we take through wooded areas and small meadows next to Flathead River. It’s a bird preserve, so I like to walk here in the Spring looking for osprey, rufous hummingbirds and many more.

Sunset Wisps

We’ve been taking walks up on a dry hill right outside the neighborhood. Each night, the sunset has produced some fantastic colors set up above dull, dry landscapes. I liked the wispy colors tonight.

Trapper Fire

Another great scene from our trip in Glacier last week. New growth envelopes the dead trees standing on the mountainside along Going-to-the-Sun Road in Glacier National Park. The Trapper Fire of 2003 wiped out all plant life surrounding “The Loop” along the famous road to Logan Pass. Autumn’s bright colors give more contrast to the juxtaposition of life and death.

Autumn Day

Celebrate the first day of Fall! This single tree was bursting golden leaves in the early autumn afternoon along the side of the Going-to-the-Sun Road a few days ago in Glacier National Park. I’ve popped some colors for dramatic effect, but my reddened face can confirm that the light was really this vibrant!

Bear Bum

Yesterday’s drive up to Glacier park was fantastic. The leaves are changing and the weather was perfect. We even spotted a young bear near McDonald Creek.

The Serious Moonlight

We went hunting for aurora last night… only to be thwarted by a northward direction of the interplanetary magnetic field (IMF)…. and the blinding light of the moon. Ah well, here’s a shot of the offender.
